About Angie Madrid

Since I was a child, dance called to me strongly. I’ve always loved music, especially salsa, and I loved that in every corner of the city there was always something playing, so I grew up in a Latin environment, influenced by Colombian music.

My training was a beautiful journey: my first steps were for fun with friends and family when I was a little girl. Years later, while I was at university, the spark was reignited. I looked for classes in the city and found Social Club, the place that would later become my second home and where today, proudly, I’m a teacher. There I started with group classes, then I took private lessons to perfect my technique and joined salsa and bachata teams with whom I performed in shows and competitions. It was many years of practice and effort, invested to live incredible moments. However, what truly marked my path was the day someone asked me to teach them to dance simply because they liked the way I did it. From that first class—without experience but full of passion—I discovered that teaching was another way of loving dance.

With time, opportunities came. I began working at a dance academy where my students were mainly foreigners looking to live an authentic Latin experience. That’s how my approach was born: creating personalized, warm, and memorable classes for tourists who want to connect with the rhythm of Medellín.

Since then, I have taught in different academies across the city, and I’ve guided hundreds of students from different countries to discover that dance is much more than steps: it’s culture, connection, and emotion.

My teaching style comes from empathy. I don’t just want you to learn to dance, but to feel comfortable, present, and proud of every step you take. I’m deeply moved when a student tells me I was their first teacher, that I helped them overcome fears, or that I motivated them to keep dancing in their country. Those moments are my greatest reward.

I believe that dancing is also a form of therapy. My classes, which take place at home in Medellín or in rented spaces, are spaces to connect, let go, and enjoy the process. Because in the end, dancing isn’t about doing it perfectly... it’s about doing it with your heart.

I have been part of various events across the country, where I’ve had the chance to train with some of the most important salsa and bachata references worldwide.
